Saturday Morning Service

Shabbat Services start promptly at 10:00am. Ethan will be called to the bima to lead services and read for the first time, from the Torah. Services end around noon.

For Those Unfamiliar With The Ceremony 

The Bar/Bat Mitzvah ritual is a religious ceremony that is typically conducted at 13 years old (or older). It is a life cycle event within Judaism giving the child a moment to lead the congregation in prayer. Preparation for the day takes years of study by learning Hebrew and the Torah (the Bible, which is Genesis through Deutoronomy aka The Five Books of Moses). 

As guests, please dress modestly for the service, turn off or silence all electronic devices and sit respectfully while Ethan is on the bima (the front stage where he will be reading). At times throughout the service, the congregation will be asked to stand. If you are not comfortable with this practice, please feel free to remain seated. The service will be conducted in English and Hebrew. Our prayer books have both, as well as transliteration, so you may follow along. It is requested that guests do not leave the sanctuary when the Torah is open or when the Rabbi is giving a sermon. Ushers at the doors will help you if you are unsure of the proper time to take a break. The service begins promptly at 10:00 am and will conclude at approximately 12 noon. You are welcome to join your child during the service.

Appropriate Attire For The Service 

• Modest dress is acceptable for services. Girls may wear dresses, skirts, nice slacks.
• Shoulders should be covered for services.
• Boys may wear suits or nice pants and collared shirts.
• No jeans, shorts, halter tops!
